Goal of the Next Generation IX Consortium

The main goal of the consortium is develop and deploy a new Internet eXchange technology which satisfy following features:

• Independancy on data link medium; e.g., a participating ISP can connect its border router with any data link medium, as well as IX Core system interconnected with any data link medium. This feature provides flexible interconnection between participating ISPs and unlimited volume of traffic for peerings.
• Distributing architecture; e.g., The IX provides hierarchical model to consist of IX Core system. Additionally, there is no need for a participating ISP to bring its border router into the building where the IX is located.
